Filters
In trace mode, surfaces may be assigned glasslike transparency. This can be done either through increasing the filter attribute or placing a grey scale brush on the surface and selecting the filter map option. If the filter attribute is modified for a concave or convex lens form, the light's direction will not be changed as would happen in reality. Also, color attributes are not changed. The curve of the surface will shade the light, however. Brushes may be used to cut out portions of the illumination, ala "bat-signal". One might make a black and white movie projector with a series of stills mapped to a filter in front of a parallel beam source.
